Protestbrief für Touristen

Dear Madam or Sir!

I have been visiting Canada very often and I‘ve stayed in Banff several times. I especially enjoyed watching wildlife here. Banff National Park used to be a park where my family and I could see elk, moose, bears and even wolves. Unfortunately the last time I came to Banff, I hardly saw any animals at all - besides seeing quite a few dead ones near the Transcanada Highway. I am wondering what the Park Service does about that situation. I recently heard that wolves are not protected in Alberta and that they are killed as soon as they are moving outside of Banff National Park. I therefore urge the Park Service and the Canadian Government to take up measures to protect your wild animals.
I as a tourist want to see animals that are alive and not dead. That’s why I come to your country and especially to your beautiful National Park. If there are no more wolves left, there will be no reason to come to Alberta anymore.

Sincerely
(xxx)

Protestbrief für Touristenorganisationen, Reisebüros u.ä.

Dear Madam or Sir!

We’re having a lot of customers who love to come to Alberta and Britsh Columbia not only because of the beautiful scenery but also because of your abundance of wildlife. We now have been informed that your wild animals are being killed as soon as they cross the border of Banff National Park. This news has upset a lot of our customers who are not willing to travel to your Park anymore if they don’t see wild animals.
We ask you to do something about this and especially to protect animals that are wandering outside of the park. If no further measures are taken we will recommend our customers not to travel to Banff National Park or any other Alberta park until something has been done.

Sincerely
(xxx – Firma xxxx)

Protestbrief von Tierschutzorganisationen

Dear Madam or Sir!

We have been informed that recently 2 wolves from the Bow Valley Pack have been killed just outside Banff National Park. The death of these wolves has made the situation in Banff almost unbearable for all animal lovers. Because of your highly developed park animals get killed constantly, if not by train then by the Transcanada Highway. Especially your wolves get killed rapidly. As the high alpine areas are not suitable for these animals, they have to use the valleys to hunt an travel. These valleys have a high infrastructure and are jammed with people in summer. This situation drives the prey animals away and forces the wolves to follow them – which unfortunately is very often out of the park. As there is no protection for endangered species in Canada, the wolves are killed right behind the borders of a National Park.
In Banff the wolves got killed by snares – which is an extreme cruel way to kill an animal. But besides that there are traps and rifles as well. The killing of two male wolves from the Bow Valley Pack will almost for sure lead to the vanishing of the whole pack, as the remaining members won’t be able to care for themselves. Many other wolves in Banff have been killed by trains and cars. This means that there now are no more wolves in Banff. As the situation will likely not change in the future or might even get worse if Alberta calls for a bounty on wolves, we urge you to do something about it.
We urge you to propose a buffer zone around Banff National Parks where dispersing animals are protected (like Denali National Park did), and we urge you to immediately protect the remaining Bow Vally wolf with her pup by closing the Bow Valley Parkway to cars from dusk to dawn.

Our members are animal lovers and wildlife watchers as are their friends and families. They want to see wolves in Banff. If you are unable to protect your wolves, we will have to call for a tourist boycott of Banff National Park.

We hope that you can help to prevent this and we look forward to hearing from you in this matter.

Sincerely
(xxx-organisation)
