Re: Promotion of wolf
hunt in Alaska
Dear
Mrs. Whitman,
we
are shocked to hear that you teamed up with Castle Rock Outfitters
last month. As a matter of fact, outfitters such as Castle Rock are
responsible for killing dozens of caribous, bears, wolves and other
wildlife species just for fun. Trophy hunting is definitely no
sports but a reckless and disgusting multimillion dollar business.
Therefore,
CANIS deeply disapproves of your promotion line, which goes like
this:
an incredible opportunity to see Alaska and hunt the
Alaskan wolf!
Moreover,
Castle Rocks trophy hunting trips come perilously close to the
Denali National Park, where efforts have been ongoing to protect the
Tokiat and Sanctuary wolf packs, whose members frequently roam
beyond park boundaries, where they get traced and shot by
bloodsports tourists.
|
We
urge you to refrain from promoting Castle Rock and other hunting
outfitters further on. Even if trophy hunting is legal, it is
ethically a crime and, above all, threatens the subtle equilibrium
of Alaska s wild habitats.
We
are looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Alexander
Willer
